These are particularly busy tours that feature a lot of moving around, sometimes by train and short journeys on local transport. Walking tours of towns and cities are leisurely but you should be prepared to be on your feet for several hours. Some of our cultural trips that occur at high altitude and/or require greater independence with baggage handling (at hotels, airports, train stations) also fall into this category.

To learn more about the Activity levels, please visit our page.
Tour Style: Cultural

These three- and four-star hotel-based, "soft adventure" trips concentrate on the culture, history, and natural attributes of our destination. Though there are no strenuous activities built into these tours, you need to be prepared for some full days with some early starts, plenty of walking on uneven surfaces through villages, cities and archaeological sites, and not a lot of "down time." Independence, reasonable fitness, and an ability to be steady on one's feet are critical in order for you to get the most out of these programs.

Ahmed Hashem Since the day I was born I have spent every day immersed in the history of my country. The great Egyptian pyramids felt like my backyard and the temples were my playground. My passion today is to show these wonders to the rest of the world. My decision to become a tour guide and tour leader came about through my desire to meet other people and learn about the rest of the world whilst teaching them about mine. I love my job and I love Egypt ! Read More
James Bodnarchuk James' insatiable wanderlust is satisfied each year between seasonal jobs at home in beautiful Vancouver, Canada. In the summertime he works outdoors as a beach lifeguard and in the winter he works in an urban forest spreading holiday cheer. Happiest while outside and exploring, he is excited to have the whole world as his workplace as an International Tour Leader for Adventures Abroad. Read More
Lorna Lissner Lorna has been part of the Adventures Abroad family for close to 25 years. Her days first began behind the scenes in our operations department. Lorna later shifted out from behind a desk and onto the road as a tour leader. Having travelled extensively on her own, as well as leading groups around the world, she finds it easy to fit in wherever she is. Whether it be Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North or South America or various other locations ...she feels home is wherever she hangs her hat. One expression she lives by is "life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away" Read More
Victor Romagnoli I love the excitement of getting up each morning on a tour and not knowing exactly how a day will unfold. It keeps me on my toes so to speak, and adds a breath of excitement to each day on tour. With almost 30 years of tour leading under my belt, I thank all of you for being a part of this exciting journey. Read More

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
ASK A QUESTION
01. Do you need a visa to travel to Egypt?
Nearly all foreign nationals travelling to Egypt require a visa, except those from certain Arab countries.
02. Is Egypt safe?
Crime levels in Egypt are very low. For example, street muggings and burglaries are not as common compared with many Western countries. The main issues tourists should be aware of are petty crimes, which include pickpocketing and baggage theft. Scams are also widespread and unwitting tourists are often parted from their cash under false pretenses, such as paying for products or services they didn’t want.
03. When is the best time to visit Egypt?
Egypt offers year-round sunshine with extremely hot dry summers and warm winters. The main tourist season takes place during winter (between late November to late February) as travellers come to enjoy pleasantly warm temperatures and lots of sun. Both March and April are also good times to visit Egypt as the warm weather continues before the arrival of the ferociously hot summer temperatures.
