This is my third post from a trip Alison and I took with Adventures Abroad to French Polynesia. In this post, we continue our journey through our Western Turkey Tour with Adventures Abroad tour leader Yasemin Reis as we enter the Province of Antalya. It is as rich in archaeological sites as any area in Turkey as we will find out over the next few days. Our first stop in the province was a visit to ancient Myra where we marvelled at the Lycian rock cut tombs and gazed upon the amazing frescoes in the Basilica of St. Nicholas. Our next stop is at the Greco/Roman city of Phaselis which has a beautiful location right on the Mediterranean Sea under the shadow of Mount Olympos. For the past two days, our Western Turkey Tour with Adventures Abroad has been stationed in the small Mediterranean town of Kas. Yesterday we enjoyed an outing by boat on the Turquoise Coast which will surely be one of the highlights of the entire trip, but it's time to move on. Today we have several interesting stops before reaching the city of Antalya starting with Myra which quite plausibly was the home of the original St. Nicholas. Who knew that Santa Claus came from warmer climes than the North Pole? Please join us as we see more Lycian rock cut tombs before meeting St. Nicholas.

This is my second post from a recent trip Alison and I took with Adventures Abroad to French Polynesia. In the previous post, we arrived in the small town of Kas having stopped at Fethiye along the way to view the Lycian rock tombs. A few years ago Alison and I and some friends embarked upon a week-long Blue Cruise that took us along the Turquoise Coast of Turkey to some of the most beautiful places on Earth. It was one of the most idyllic and memorable weeks of my life. Today Alison and I are going to get a chance to relive some of these memories as we embark on a boat cruise with the rest of our group as we continue our exploration of Western Turkey with Adventures Abroad. In the previous post on this Adventures Abroad Western Turkey Tour, we toured Bodrum Castle with its unique Underwater Archaeology Museum. I love Bodrum and never get tired of visiting it, but alas, it is time to move on and continue our exploration of Turkey's beautiful Turquoise Coast. Today we are headed to the small town of Kas where we will spend a few days. On the way, we are going to stop in one of the most popular resort spots on this coast, the city of Fethiye, long famous for its legendary beaches, particularly Ölüdeniz where paragliders gather from around the world to soar above its fabled blue waters. However, we are going to stay closer to the ground and admire some of the city's Lycian tombs and maybe buy some spices at the market before moving on to Kas. Please join us.
